Garfield - Garfield = Story of one Sad Man

I've always loved Garfield comics . Ever since i was young I've been obsessed with that sarcastic , obese , Orange , cat. I personally am a dog lover myself but if i had to choose between

sNOOPy

AND

GarfielD

The fat cat would win hands down . Sure he's

LAZY

FAT

NARCISSISTIC

SARDONIC

CYNICAL

EVIL

BUT .......

How can you not LOVE the lil' guy !!!!

Did u guys use to watch the Garfield cartoon ? his monotonous voice fit his 'vibrant' personality to the T . Too bad they stopped showing it.

The other day when when one of my lil cousin came over i took my Garfield figurine and started doing Garfield impersonations .

I swear the boy gave me a WTF look ....

" Whooooo is thattttttt ? "

"What do you mean whooooo is thattttt . Its Garfield !!! "

" Whooo is Garwield ? "

" Its GarFFFField. Dont u watch his cartoons on TV ? "

"No ! i watch Blue's Clues " * gives a happy smile

" Well Blue's Clues is Lame ! "

" Mummyyyyyy aka say Lammmeeee "

" Shhhhhhhh... ok ok we'll play Blue's Clues "

Hmpf kids these days .... they don't know anything . Oh dear I'm starting to sound like my mother . So. Not. Cool.

Anyhoo i digress ...

I know the cartoons are called Garfield and friends but with his larger than life personality we tend to focus more on the fat cat's life while the people around him tends to blur out ....

What would Garfield be without garfield ......

Well this experiment was conducted and the formula derived was :

Garfield - garfield = Story of one Sad Man

This experiment so to speak was done by the creators of the blog 'garfield minus garfield' . Here's an intro taken from there website.

" Who would have guessed that when you remove Garfield from the Garfield comic strips, the result is an even better comic about schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and the empty desperation of modern life? Friends, meet Jon Arbuckle.

Let’s laugh and learn with him on a journey deep into the tortured mind of an isolated young everyman as he fights a losing battle against loneliness in a quiet American suburb. "

Basically what they did was take a normal comic strip :

And edit Garfield out :

I mean Jon is the kind of person you normally laugh at and not with when reading the comics.

and we all know cats cant talk . So this interpretation of the cartoon gives it a sense of realism .

Makes u sit back and think of all those times you laughed with garfield when he taunted Jon on him never getting dates , getting rejected, being so lifeless . Of how sad Jon's life really is.

Also,

I enjoyed the twisted humor in it :

Of course after reading all the cartoons all i wanted to do was give Jon a big hug :)
